The Contemporary Europe Research Centre (CERC) invites postgraduate students from across Australia and New Zealand with a research interest in contemporary Europe to participate in an exciting interdisciplinary conference, The Worlds of Europe and Europe in the World.
The conference is being held on Wednesday 5 December 2007 in conjunction with a public lecture and major international
conference: Europe and Asia between Islam and the United States: The Lessons of Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Iran,
jointly sponsored by CERC, the Centre for Dialogue and the Innovative Universities European Union Centre (IUEU), in cooperation
with 4 overseas institutions. Postgraduates are encouraged to attend both events. For further information, please
refer to: http://www.cerc.unimelb.edu.au/events/conferences.html
The aim of the postgraduate conference is to establish a forum for Australian and New Zealand postgraduate students and
young researchers working under the broad rubric of European Studies to present and discuss their ongoing research with
peers, academics and professionals in their given areas of interest. Papers are invited from a range of discipline areas,
including law, economics, literacy and cultural studies, history and political science.
With possible publication in mind, postgraduates interested in presenting at the conference should submit by Monday 17
September 2007 – EXTENDED TO 30 SEPTEMBER 2007:

- A 150 word abstract of the proposed paper;
- A brief personal biography outlining research interests and background.
The final copy of any paper to be considered for publication should be at CERC no later than 1 November 2007.
Please submit your abstract via email, together with full contact details to Margherita Matera at mmatera@unimelb.edu.au
